Synopsis:
James Whitaker is far from being the perfect Christian. Having abandoned his faith during his teen years and spent several years in prison, he returns home to Washington, D.C., yearning only to spend time with his devout, long-suffering mother. However, his plans for a perfect homecoming are thwarted when he is attacked shortly after release, and then targeted by a distraught father bent on revenge for the disappearance of his young daughter. These events threaten not only to destroy his life, but the lives of his family, his friends, and the pastor and first lady of a D.C. mega church. Along the way he is assisted by a young social worker whose efforts to help James only exacerbate her own struggles and yearning for companionship.

Could these events have something to do with a prophecy he received as a child? Or are they the natural repercussions of a fateful decision made several years ago? In this Christian fiction novel set in the gritty urban environs of the nation’s capital, drama, suspense and romance come together to create a compelling and realistic story that illustrates the unwavering faithfulness of God and the virtues of perseverance.

Comments about the book:

PRODIGAL IN THE CITY is one those stories that once started, it can't be put down. Pastor Louis Jones has created a very real portrayal of what can happen, when the streets become more real than the word of God. It is a very compelling story that will grab your heart as you root for James' redemption. The parallels between James and the Prodigal Son in the bible are very much on point.

Excellent read.

Congratulations on your first novel!  I really enjoyed it and was challenged by the way urban people have to live.  Although I don't know anything about "street life", it seemed realistic and the different characters helped to see the struggles people go through. There were plenty of moral lessons.  Let me know when the next one comes out!

Prodigal in the City is an excellent novel and I encourage all to read this novel. In reading this particular book, I found it to be more truthful than fiction. Congratulation Mr. Jones on a job well done and I look forward to your upcoming novels.

Faith often leaves people, but that doesn't prevent it from coming back. "Prodigal in the City" follows James Whitaker as he comes home to Washington D.C. after a long absence. But he soon finds himself the target of ghosts from his past, and it seems his only hope for salvation is a megachurch that has formed in his home city. A story of faith and how it can rescue even the most hopeless of cases, "Prodigal in the City" is quite the choice for those in search of Christian novels.
